The faculty and staff of Desert Ridge Junior High School welcome our students and parents to another exciting school year.
We believe we’re an A+ School!
DRJHS has applied to the
Arizona Educational Foundation to be honored as an A+ School of Excellence. The
A+ School of Excellence™ Program is a comprehensive school assessment program
that celebrates outstanding schools and brings to light the positive stories
and successes happening in public schools every day. On Wednesday, February 25th
and Thursday, February 26th a team of judges will be at DRJHS to see
all the wonderful things we do on campus. Judges will speak with our students
to hear about what is happening at DRJHS. We are excited for the opportunity to
show how Rattlers Go the Distance!
The 2014/2015 school year marks our fourteenth year of academic excellence. We encourage our ‘Rattler Families’ to become involved in all aspects of our school community. Desert Ridge Junior prides itself on offering our students a well-rounded combination of outstanding academics, arts, and athletics. To that end, 2014/2015 promises to be another great year for our Rattlers!
At Desert Ridge Junior High School, students, parents, and educators share responsibility for quality education, academic excellence, and character. Desert Ridge Junior High School provides a positive and accepting environment, which empowers all students in their academic, social, and physical pursuits as well-rounded life long learners. "Rattlers Go the Distance" as they demonstrate trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, citizenship, and caring.
Our annual canned food
drive is what brings our entire community together to fulfill one common
goal…fill an entire semi-truck with much needed food for the local food
bank. Local and national press and
television have lauded our DRJHS generosity. To say DRJHS is a giving campus
would be an understatement. Our
contributions are so amazing that the United Food Bank has come to count on us
year after year, and the students, families and our staff never disappoint. When one thinks of our school motto, “Rattlers
Go the Distance,” our food drive embodies that slogan like nothing else on this
campus. In the 2013-14 school year, an incredible 36,000 pounds of food were
collected, making the 2014 goal 37,000 pounds.
We beat that goal to the tune of 38,221 pounds of food. This tradition
unites our school and community around a common goal and the team work shown to
make a difference in the lives of others is simply remarkable. Thank you to
everyone who helped in this huge task, with special thanks to Chad White, Jeff
Schafer, Ken Kleman, and Craig McDaniel who are amazing coordinators!
