Welcome to Gilbert Junior High School home of the Tigers! 
My name is Sam Valles and  I am honored to be the new principal here at
Gilbert Junior!  I am very excited for the  start of the 2016­-17 school year. 
We are proud of our tradition and success at Gilbert Junior.
Our teachers and staff members are dedicated to helping all students to be
successful and enjoy learning. We will work hard to provide students the 
foundation to reach their academic goals and to set the standard for other 
schools to follow. Gilbert Junior is special place to learn and grow!
The GJHS staff is passionate and sincere in their work by supporting 
students in all facets of their learning.  Additionally, we would like to 
invite our students to be actively involved in school with our clubs and
sports opportunities. With our combined efforts between school and 
home our goal is to build a successful experience for your child.  
We want to make sure you are informed of what is going on at our school. 
A communication link between school and home is vital in support 
of our mission.  Therefore, I will make every effort to keep you informed 
of school happenings through our school website, infinite campus, and 
school messenger.  Additionally, you will also find a link to our school 
Facebook and Twitter accounts on our school web page. 
Please mark your calendars for Tiger Days on: 
                 Thursday, July 28th from 8:00-11:00 am and 4:00-­7:00 pm. 
                 Friday, July 29th from 8:00 -11:00 am
On your visit you will be able to pick up your schedules and 
meet some of our teachers.
Additionally our Open House provides a great opportunity for you to 
meet our teachers and have any questions you may have answered.
Open House is on Thursday, August 11, from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
Please come by and visit our campus.
This is my first year as principal at Gilbert Junior. I want to thank you
for choosing GJHS as your child's school. I look forward to working
with each of you.  Please feel free to contact my office if you have any
questions or concerns.

    • 1 three ring binder for class work and other materials (2-3 inches)
    • 8-10 dividers total
    • 1 spiral notebook with pockets
    • loose-leaf notebook paper
    • pencil pouch
    • pencil sharpener
    • #2 pencils
    • blue or black ink pens
    • red pens for grading
    • highlighters (1-2 different colors)
    • graph paper (in spiral notebook preferred) - 8th grade only
    • Calculator TI-30


    Your student's teachers may have a few more specific items they want their students to have depending on the class.  The items listed above are the minimum required to start school.

  • Please do not forget to call your child in late or absent on the day of their absence.  A child is considered absent in a class if the miss 10 minutes or more in that class.  Students must be in their seats in order not to be marked absent or tardy. 
    Please have your ID ready when picking up your child early from school.
