This year, our faculty has continued its work in Professional Learning Communities. PLCs operate with the understanding that the key to improved learning for students is continuous professional learning and collaboration for educators. Our campus PLCs carefully examine student performance data on various assessments, analyze the specific learning needs of students, and develop lessons to directly target those needs.
Asa district, Gilbert Public Schools has set a goal for each core content area, with the intent to increase the percentage of students meeting or exceeding the standards by 2-3% in Math, Reading, and Writing as measured by AIMS. Our school is doing its part to support that goal by increasing the percentage of all Mesquite students meeting or exceeding the math by 3% as measured by AIMS, increasing the percentage of all Mesquite students meeting or exceeding the reading by 2% as measured by AIMS, increasing the percentage of all mesquite students meeting or exceeding the writing by 4%as measured by AIMS. And each grade level here at Mesquite has accepted the responsibility of meeting that goal by focusing on at least one specific content area where their students have the most room for growth.
Please understand this work is intense, time-worthy,and completely driven by the educational needs of our students. As we transition into the 2013/2014school year, our district’s early release schedule may need to look different in order to enable teachers to focus and meet the specific needs of every student in their charge. We know,as always, our wonderful Gilbert community will recognize and support the need for those changes.
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day, and please know that we are continually striving to deliver to them a world-class education.
