Time To Celebrate!!
Congratulations Playa students, teachers, and parents. Playa
del Rey Elementary is once again an “A” rated school by the Arizona Department
of Education based on the spring AIMS and SAT-10 scores. Way to go!!
As you know, we also earned our third consecutive A+ School
of Excellence Award from the Arizona Education Foundation who honors high
achieving K – 12 Schools from around the state of Arizona. This award signifies
the depth of our comprehensive offerings including rigorous academics and
curriculum, high student achievement and growth, extra curricular activities,
and strong relationships with parents and community.
Class lists are now posted in the front of the school
Open House is Monday, August 4th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.
First day of Classes will be Wednesday, August 6th
with the playground opening at 8:30 am. Breakfast is served for those
interested at 8:15 am. Due to safety and supervision, we ask that there are no
early drop offs. Please let your child
walk or ride bikes if they don’t have to cross a major street. Vehicular
traffic is my biggest concern in the neighborhood. Please observe the posted
speed limits and be observant by staying off electronic devices.
We at Playa look forward to another successful year of
learning, friendships, and community involvement.
Dr. Robyn Conrad Hansen
Playa del Rey Elementary
A+ School of Excellence
Playa students are challenged daily by highly qualified educators who develop lessons that are rigorous and relevant to our 21st Century. You will hear about how Playa has earned the Arizona A+ Award three times, Character Counts!, Bully-Free Zone, Red Ribbon Week, PTSO Family events, STEM clubs, Oceanography, and Fine Dining. These activities, and more, help create a warm, welcoming environment where children and adults feel comfortable and respected.
A favorite poem, written by Julie Ann Ford, entitled ‘Five Lessons to Live By,’ has been shared with staff, students, and parents. You will see examples of these Five Lessons practiced at Playa: Learn to Laugh, Learn to Listen, Learn to Let Go, Learn to Love, and Learn to Live. Remember, what we see in life depends on what you are looking for—so search for the good in others and appreciate the gifts each day brings. We look forward to welcoming you into the Playa Family.
