The Essential SkillsDepartment offers a variety of core courses designed to provide students an alternative to the traditional classroom setting. In addition, Life Strategies courses are designed to help students learn effective habits and strategies to help them acheive what they want and need to succeed.d Faculty Life Strategies for Teens This course provides daily strategies designed to guide teens in building better character, boosting self-confidence, embracing diversity, resisting negative peer pressure, building good relationships, and setting and achieving goals. The Center for Success provides an alternative setting for juniors and seniors to earn course credit in the core subjects of English I, II, III, IV (Literature only), Math (Topics 1, 2, 3, 4), World Studies (Semester I and II), American/Arizona History (Semester I, II), Economics, and Government. Although these courses are conducted in a classroom setting, non-traditional approaches are used to present material. The use of Accelerated Math, Accelerated Reader, Perfect Copy and other software programs assist students in these araeas. Students are afforded more independent study but have access to resources and teachers for assistance. Study Hall
Study Hall is included in the Center for Success per adminitrative request. Study Hall students have computer access making the Center a quiet and resourceful atmosphere for study and the pursuit of excellence. |
