Employment opportunities for students who plan to go directly into the workforce are posted on the job board located in our Career Center. Help is available through the Career Center with resumes and job seeking skills.
Apprenticeship Programs offer on the job training for a specific skill or trade. In addition, many of the community colleges offer apprenticeship programs through partnerships with corporations. Examples: plumbing, refrigeration, mechanics, truck driving, electrician. www.azwaca.org Trade and Technical training can be obtained through private schools that provide programs for specific careers. Students learn in job related settings and receive hands-on training. Examples: cosmetology, truck driving, pipe fitting trades, health assistants.
Community Colleges offer students collegiate opportunities to earn a 2 year degree as well as opportunity to transfer credits to universities. The length of study is dependent on the program chosen. Students who are still deciding on their plans after high school should check out community college opportunities in the HHS Career Center and at www.maricopa.edu. |
HHS Vocational Programs
Highland High School offers a variety of vocational programs to students. Several classes are offered through the Agriculture, Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Industrial Education, and Fine Arts programs. Students should review the course description book for specific offerings. Opportunities are available in the following areas:
