Junior High School Curriculum

JUNIOR HIGH COURSE DESCRIPTION BOOKS & INFORMATION

 

Promotion Requirements


All seventh and eighth grade students enrolled in the junior high schools will be required to pass a minimum of six (6) credits a year in the required basic curriculum.


In the seventh grade, one (1) credit must be earned in each of the following areas:


  • English Language Arts

  • Math

  • Science

  • Social Studies

  • Physical Education *


In the eighth grade, one (1) credit must be earned in each of the following areas:


  • English Language Arts

  • Math

  • Science

  • Social Studies


One-half (1/2) credit will be earned for each semester’s work successfully completed in each area.


A maximum of two (2) credits per year can be earned through successful completion of the offered electives.

*A maximum of one (1) credit of Independent PE may be used to fulfill the PE requirement.


Eighth grade students who have not achieved grade level proficiency scores in reading, writing or math may be enrolled in special programs designed to remediate the proficiency.
