Governing Board Meeting Highlights: September 12, 2017
Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board announces finalists for superintendent post.

(Gilbert, AZ) -- Gilbert Public Schools is nearing the selection of its next superintendent after selecting four finalists. The finalists are Dr. Anna Battle, Dr. Steve Chestnut, Dr. Shannon Goodsell and Mr. Shane McCord.

The board spent a full day in executive session conducting the interviews with six candidates. After resuming their special meeting, Board President Mrs. Sheila Rogers thanked all the applicants.

Board members and representatives from the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA), proceeded to discuss the next steps in the search for the new superintendent, including scheduling another round of interviews with the finalists.

All candidates will be asked to provide a 15 minute presentation on their ideas of a marketing and communications plan for the district, followed by questions on their plan and other topics including declining enrollment, strategic plan to increase student achievement, and establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The Board previously established Tuesday, September 19 as the date they will hold these final interviews. The public will have an opportunity to meet the four finalists that evening and ask questions during an open community forum at Campo Verde High School in the school’s auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Board agreed to reconvene into executive session after the community forum, where they will discuss comments from the public and may also decide on their selection of the next Superintendent of Gilbert Public Schools.
