Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board held their monthly Work Study and Brief Board Business Meeting on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

The Governing Board held their monthly Work Study and Brief Board Business Meeting on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. The Work Study was called to order at 6:30pm.

The Work Study included a presentation by Patterson Elementary Principal, Mr. Lucas Blackburn, presented along with 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Christy Hubele. 

The presentation highlighted:

  • the continued distinction of receiving an A+ School of Excellence rating from the Arizona Educational Foundation.
  • the emphasis on a project-based, science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) curriculum that is rooted in real-world learning.
  • the core values, common purpose and daily mission that are deeply ingrained into the daily learning culture at Patterson.
  • the student-centered culture where students are actively engaged in their learning and new discoveries.
  • approximately 50 percent of students enrolled at Patterson are from outside their school boundary.

This was followed by a presentation of the 2019 - 2020 Budget Process and Timeline by Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Bonnie Betz.

The Work Study was then adjourned and the Brief Board Business Meeting was called to order at 7:40pm.

The Consent Agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote.  

Items included:

  • 5.02 Acceptance of a request from the Town of Gilbert for Gilbert Public Schools to grant a Temporary Construction Easement at the Northwest corner of Germann & Quartz Hill, on the property of Campo Verde High School
  • 5.03 Approval of Overnight and/or Out-of-State Travel
  • 5.04 Approval of Out of State Travel for Staff

The meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
