Gifted 101:  What Parents Need To Know

What is it about that "G" work that is mountainous?  What does it mean to be identified as gifted?  What are common characteristics and struggles of gifted kids?  How do we talk about that "G" word with our gifted kids?  How do we talk about giftedness with extended family members or the parents of our child's friends?  With teachers?  Whether your child has just been recently identified as gifted or was identified years ago, come for an engaging conversation.  Presented by Stephanie Newitt.  Stephanie has survived the parenting of four gifted kids and found joy along the way.  She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Association of Gifted and Talented.

Messages From the Future:  Advice about being a gifted student from some people further down the path

"A while back I was asked to address a gathering of gifted parents.  The topic was:  Advice I wish I would have had as a young, gifted student.  Since I went to school way before gifted programs, or the internet, or personal computers, or cable T.V, or safe playground equipment, or self-esteem, or even Cheese Wiz, I decided to ask some former students who are pursuing their dreams as adults.  I found their insights inspiring and a powerful validation of the things I've learned after twenty years of teaching gifted kids.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to share them again."  This workshop will be presented by the talented and respected ALP Gifted Teacher, Mr. Michael Bailey.

Students in grades 3rd through 12th are encouraged to attend with their parents!

Registration required.  Childcare not available.
