English language acquisition and academic success are the primary goals of the English Learning Programs. Students are educated in supportive classrooms with native English speakers. Beginning English learners receive small group instruction to enhance their language acquisition. All instruction follows the Arizona Standards.

Enrollment in the Dual Lanuage Program - Spanish Immersion at Gilbert Elementary (Spelling - Language) provides both English and Spanish speakers with the opportunity to learn in a dual language/culture environment.

In addition, adult English learners can enroll in the English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA) Program.

This program is designed for students in kindergarten through grade 12 who speak a language other than English and is delivered at all district schools.

The curriculum is taught by certified teachers with provisional SEI endorsements in mainstream classrooms with students who are English speakers. Certified teachers with ESL endorsements provide English language and reading instruction to small groups of learners. In addition, capable instructional assistants work in mainstream classrooms to assist students with content area learning. Instruction and classroom materials are in English. The learning environment is supportive of language and cultural diversity.

Maestros certificados con especialidad provisional SEI imparten el estimulante plan de estudio de Gilbert en salones de clase convencionales, con estudiantes que son hablantes del idioma inglés.
