• GCA Music Department News

Our next meeting, on Tuesday 3/3/20 at 7 pm in the GCA Band Room, will have information about our 2021 music tour. If your child is currently in Symphonic Strings, Wind Ensemble or Chorale (excluding current seniors) OR might be on track to be in one of these ensembles next year, plan to attend to get information on the destination, itinerary, payment schedule, and chaperone opportunities. All this information will be rolled out to the students the following day so come to get a sneak peek.

Next week we will begin our coffee and hot chocolate fundraiser. Some of you may remember this one from last year. New this year: students will be able to "bank" all profits from their individual sales into a personal account, which can be used for future music trips (such as the aforementioned 2021 tour). Even junior high students may begin earning money for trips a few years in the future! Seniors who make a profit on this fundraiser may donate their money to a younger sibling or a scholarship fund. This fundraiser will run February 18th through March 4th, with order forms available at each of the upcoming concerts.

Congratulations to the following students who will be performing in the Central Region Honor Festival tomorrow. These ensembles are very competitive and our department takes great pride in sending any student every year:

Freshmen: Connie Kang, Michelle Kim, and Arturo Pacheco, all violinists

Sophomore Neo Pyon on Bass Clarinet

Juniors Susie Hong and Eugenia Trakal on violin

    Senior Anika Kang on viola
