Office of the Gilbert Public Schools Superintendent

Greetings and Welcome to Gilbert Public Schools!

  • Dr. Shane McCord

It is my privilege to serve as the Superintendent of this wonderful school district, and invite you to explore our website, speak with our staff, or schedule a visit at any of our schools.

As one of the largest school districts in the State of Arizona, we offer you and your child(ren) a 100+ year tradition of academic excellence, A+ Schools of Excellence, an extensive array of accelerated courses (AP and honors) and dual credit opportunities, along with a state ranked career technical education (CTE) program. Additionally, our high performing traditional classrooms are supported by a nationally recognized performing arts, visual arts and outstanding athletic programs.

We are a unified school district that is located in the East Valley of Phoenix, and among our 40 schools, we serve over 34,000 students from preschool through 12th grade.

Our 27 elementary schools, five junior high schools, six high schools, one online learning academy and one alternative high school are all schools I am very proud of, and my wife and I are proud to say our two children are graduates of Gilbert Public Schools.

I think you will find what I have over my 20-year career with the district, that our culture is our point of pride. Simply put, Governing Board, our parents, our students and our staff are second to none. Come and see for yourself why Gilbert Public Schools is the district of choice in Arizona.

    Sincerely,

    Shane McCord signature

Superintendent Community Updates

  • June 3, 2020

Gilbert Public Schools is deeply saddened and troubled by recent events demonstrating racism and a disregard for human life.  We are disturbed that these events have led to escalating violence and incivility. We condemn racism and violence in any form.

At Gilbert Public Schools, our district mission is to inspire excellence in every learner.  We believe that this can only be achieved when every student and employee is treated with dignity and respect.  As a school district, we have a key role to play in promoting inclusion within our society. It is essential that our schools are a safe place where our children feel heard, supported, and treated equally.  At this time, it is incumbent upon us to be aware of the challenges many within our community are facing and to be a source of support for all people within our community and beyond its borders.  It is important that our students, employees, and families know that we stand against racism in all its forms.

Gilbert Public Schools commits to continue to improve as a district so that we can truly inspire excellence in every learner.  We ask for your partnership and support as we continue to actively build inclusive communities within our schools and to provide an exceptional education for all learners.

    Sincerely,

    Shane McCord, Ed. D.
