HHS Counseling Mission
-
To provide students with a comprehensive developmental school counseling program which promotes and facilitates an opportunity to gain an understanding of self and others, and to prepare them to function effectively in a changing society through education and career planning within an environment that is safe, caring, and encouraging.
Student success in high school is the result of the partnership among students, parents, teachers, counselors, administration, and staff. The purpose of the counseling office is to help students to successfully complete high school and be prepared for future educational and vocational plans.
Group guidance classes are offered yearly to each grade level. Students are also encouraged to make appointments with their counselor to work toward their post-secondary goals, attend workshops presented throughout the year, and to attend vocational and college visits in our college and career center.Students are assigned to counselors by alphabet according to the students' last names. In most cases, counselors work with the same group of students throughout their four years of high school. We strongly encourage students to visit with their counselor multiple times throughout the year either during our open door hours or via an appointment to discuss current progress in high school, create and work toward post-secondary plans or for personal/social reasons.
The counseling office is open from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm daily. We encourage parents to call or email their students' counselor for questions or to schedule an appointment.
