Comment: It would be great to have a 4-day school option, especially for elementary. That doesn’t mean that everyone has to do four day instead of 5, just optional (with Fridays being more extracurricular/make up work days). A lot of charter schools do this, and it’s very appealing. It would save resources, and give children an extra day of rest. My kids were at a charter school and were advanced, and it was a four day, 28-hour week. We really miss it!

Comment: My student is at Finley Farms and I was surprised to learn that the most challenging subject (math) is taught at the end of the day in 3rd grade. I would like the board to reconsider having the most challenging subjects earlier in the day when the minds of the students are better equipped to handle the cognitive load of a more taxing subject. Teachers know better than administrators as to what their students have the attention span, bandwidth, and capabilities to achieve on a daily basis.

Comment: Please consider moving boys soccer to any other quarter than first. This kind of high intensity sport during extra heat season is beyond dangerous. Most of the practices are canceled and now the games are being canceled and rescheduled for evening time. Boys at this age are prone to peer pressure and will most likely push themselves beyond a reasonable measure which can become fatal in our heat index.
