Dr. Shane McCord, Superintendent
Welcome to the beginning of a new school year at Gilbert Public Schools. This is our 111th year and we are extremely proud to be an integral part of both the Town of Gilbert and the City of Mesa!
Our 39 high-performing schools offer students, preschool through 12th grade, access to a wide range of high-quality academic and extra-curricular programs that support every student to thrive and become a future-ready graduate. Together, as a family, comprised of our wonderful students, families, employees, and the wider community, we remain committed to the education and growth of our students and I thank you for placing your trust in us and for choosing Gilbert Public Schools.
Last school year was another exciting year to be a part of GPS and we were extremely proud to be recognized as an ‘A’ district by the Arizona Department of Education. We also added two more schools to our list of 15 A+ Schools of Excellence, Canyon Rim Elementary and Towne Meadows Elementary, and celebrated Neely Traditional Academy’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. Our schools are of course much more than their accolades and awards, they are safe and supportive spaces where children are truly cared for and supported in their own unique academic journey. Our 4,000 employees are the very best of the best, with certified and experienced teachers in every classroom placing students at the center of everything we do. As we look forward to the new school year we remind ourselves of what is truly important and at the heart of our GPS Family, our students, and remain committed to delivering academic excellence in safe and supportive learning environments that inspire.
There is a lot to look forward to in the 2024/25 school year and we are excited to get back into the classroom, on our stages, on the fields, and out in the community. I encourage you to attend our various back to school events and to browse our new district and school websites launched over the summer for all the information you need for back to school! I would also like to remind our community that there will be an election on November 5th in which GPS will have a budget override continuation on the ballot. For more information please visit gilbertschools.net/election.
We are excited to welcome returning and new students to our campuses on Tuesday, July 23rd to begin another incredible year of learning. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your student and your family!
Sincerely,
