Lynn Jorgensen, a physics teacher at Gilbert High School, has been awarded the prestigious National PhysTEC Teacher of the Year award for her work in advancing the teaching profession for high school physics teachers.

The PhysTEC Teacher of the Year award celebrates the outstanding efforts of in-service high school teachers in physics education at both the local and national levels. Each state that holds membership of PhysTEC is awarded a state-level Teacher of the Year award while there is only one winner recognized as National Teacher of the Year.

Jorgensen, who teaches Physics, AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2, showcases her dedication to improving physics education through her numerous contributions to the field. She actively collaborates with Arizona State University to enhance teaching methodologies, serves as the past President of the American Modeling Teachers Association, and has played a key role in a task force focused on strengthening support for high school physics teachers.

"Working alongside educators who are passionate about supporting others is incredibly rewarding," said Jorgensen. "This recognition underscores the importance of continuous professional development in ensuring our students have access to the highest quality science education possible."
