New Accelerated Classroom Experience at Quartz Hill Elementary!

In recent years, incoming kindergarteners at Quartz Hill Elementary have been able to take part in an accelerated classroom experience. We are excited to announce that for the 2021/2022 school year, our K-3 students will have the opportunity for an accelerated class option! Our staff, along with the help of district personnel, have worked to create a sustainable accelerated classroom option in our K-3 grade levels.

How is this classroom different from other classrooms?
Who are the accelerated teachers for the 2021/2022 school year?
All of our accelerated teachers have, or are currently working towards, their gifted endorsement. The accelerated teachers for the 2021/2022 school year are:
- Kindergarten - Christine Barnes
- 1st - Michelle Morris
- 2nd - Shannon Salce
- 3rd - Tamara Noel
Will students use a different curriculum?
How can my student qualify for the accelerated classroom?

Students may qualify for the accelerated classroom in a few ways: Students with a CogAt (or equivalent IQ test) score or 80+ on both quantitative and qualitative areas, performance on the accelerated screener or teacher recommendation.

Success criteria that use student language, are specific to the learning target, and are incorporated into instruction.
