You are invited! Our next Family Information Night for the Gilbert Public Schools Performance Academy, in partnership with Legacy Sports USA will be on Wednesday July 13, 2022!
This is a unique program designed for students in 4th - 8th grade to learn and thrive with a flexible, supported academic schedule at A-rated Gilbert Public Schools Mesquite Elementary and South Valley Junior High in the morning, and a customized athletic training and skill-building schedule in the afternoon at Bell Bank Park in Mesa, with a wide range of sports programs offered. Students gain access to a wide range of academic and social activities, accelerated academics, extracurricular programs, clubs and electives, while taking their athletics to the next level at Bell Bank Park powered by Legacy Sports USA, a premier athletic facility. Transportation provided.
Students do not have to live within Gilbert Public Schools boundaries to attend the Performance Academy.

Our Performance Academy is for 4th - 8th grade athletes and performing arts students. The program supports students to excel academically in a school environment in the mornings and access training and programs in the afternoons so they can take their achievements to the next level. Students have the choice of accessing their own training or performing arts facility in the afternoons or being part of the Legacy Sports USA Sports Enrichment Program at Bell Bank Park.

Our 4th - 6th-grade Performance Academy students are in school every morning and then transported directly to their training or performance facility for the afternoon.
Certified, highly qualified GPS teachers utilize the Summit Learning Platform with the students to allow for individualized learning experiences and direct support from teachers and other students. Students are supported to work at their own pace with daily classroom teaching and group work. Weekly mentoring sessions ensure student success.

Complete online open enrollment for either Mesquite Elementary (Grades 4-6) or South Valley Junior High (Grades 7-8). When you reach the Student Enrollment Section of the application, please select Performance Academy in the 'Enrollment Grade' drop-down and either Mesquite Elementary or South Valley Junior High in the 'School Requested' drop down.
Please note this is a non-boundaried program, so your student does not need to live within the boundaries of either of these schools or within Gilbert Public Schools boundaries to attend the Performance Academy.

How do we enroll in the Performance Academy?
We are now accepting applications to join our Performance Academy at
Mesquite Elementary and South Valley Junior High for the 2022/23 school year.
Below you will find a few links where you can obtain information online, as well as the ability to enroll in Gilbert Public Schools, and once enrolled, the Performance Academy.

- Complete the Gilbert Public Schools online open enrollment for either Mesquite Elementary (Grades 4-6) or South Valley Junior High (Grades 7-8).
- When you reach the Student Enrollment Section of the application, please select Performance Academy in the 'Enrollment Grade' drop-down and either Mesquite Elementary or South Valley Junior High in the 'School Requested' drop down.
- If you are currently a GPS student, then you can proceed to enrollment immediately by clicking "Existing GPS Family Registration" and logging into your Infinite Campus account.

What qualifies my child to be a part of the Performance Academy?
To be part of the Performance Academy students must:
- be a 4th - 8th grader for the 2022-2023 school year
- take part in athletics or performing arts
- be enrolled in Gilbert Public Schools to attend either Mesquite Elementary (4th-6th graders) or South Valley Junior High (7th-8th graders)
If your student is taking part in the Performance Academy Sports Enrichment Program with Legacy Sports USA your student:
- must be registered with Legacy Sports USA and Gilbert Public Schools to be in the Sports Enrichment Program offered at Bell Bank Park.
**Please note students do NOT have to live within the boundaries of either Mesquite Elementary or South Valley Junior High or Gilbert Public Schools in order to enroll at the Performance Academy.
Additional information for students enrolling through open enrollment - Open Enrollment application must be completed and submitted to the school in which the student seeks to enroll, outside of the designated school boundaries. Acceptance of an open enrollment student is on a year-by-year basis. However, students do not need to re-apply unless they are seeking enrollment at another school site.

What is the schedule for Performance Academy at Mesquite Elementary and South Valley Junior High?

Will transportation be provided?
Transportation will be provided by Gilbert Public Schools for those registered in the Sports Enrichment Program provided by Legacy Sports USA. If your student is taking part in athletics or performing arts at a facility other than Bell Bank Park you will be responsible for picking them up from school and transporting them to their facility.
At the conclusion of the students’ school day, 12:15 for Mesquite Elementary and 12:30 for South Valley Jr High, students will be transported to Legacy Sports USA at Bell Bank Park.
Transportation Information Specific to Sports Enrichment Program with Legacy Sports USA at Bell Bank Park
- Families are responsible for picking their student up at Bell Bank Park at 4:00 pm
- For a South Valley Junior High student participating as an member of one of SVJH’s sports teams:
- during those designated sports seasons, those student will be transported from Bell Bank Park back to South Valley Junior High by Gilbert Public Schools transportation in time to participate in either practice or games.
- during those sports season, on those days, students must picked up from South Valley Junior High or at designated Away Game school.
- Performance Academy students attending a facility other than the Sports Enrichment Training program at Bell Bank Park, must be picked up from school by their parents or family members and taken to their training or practice by 12:15 (Mesquite Elementary) or 12:30 (SVJH) everyday. Students are not to remain on campus after those times.

What is the GPS school calendar for 2022/23?
The first day of school is July 26 2022. Performance Academy programs will begin the first day of school and all Sports Enrichment training programs at Legacy’s Bell Bank Park will follow the GPS school calendar.

Can a Performance Academy student attend their morning classes and then be picked up by their parent to attend an athletics or performing arts program of their choice?
Yes, your student can be enrolled in an athletics or performing arts program of their choice, and be picked up by a parent or family member at the end of the morning academic schedule and taken to their facility or program.

Can Junior High Performance Academy students take part in Junior High athletics?
Yes, our Performance Academy students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to take part in South Valley Junior High Athletics.
When in season, students in the Sports Enrichment Program with Legacy Sports USA will be bussed back from Legacy in time for practice at 3:30 pm. During the season, this will replace their Legacy ‘Sport Specific' practice for those days.
If the student is not part of the Legacy Sports USA program, they can still take part if available to attend practice times and games.

What if I live outside of GPS boundaries, can we apply to be a part of the Performance Academy at Mesquite or South Valley?
Yes! Please follow the open enrollment process and select either Mesquite Elementary or South Valley Junior High, depending on the grade level of your student.
Students do not have to live within Gilbert Public Schools boundaries to attend the Performance Academy.

What sports are offered as part of the Legacy Sports USA program at Bell Bank Park?
In partnership with Gilbert Public Schools Performance Academy, Legacy Sports USA will be offering a Sports Enrichment Program. Students will be transported to Bell Bank Park, home of Legacy Sports USA, in the afternoon for a customized athletic training and skill-building schedule, with 15 different sports programs offered.Students can choose from:
- Basketball
- Baseball
- Beach Volleyball
- Cheer
- Dance
- eSports
- Futsal
- Gymnastics
- Indoor Volleyball
- Jr. Ninja Warrior
- Multi-Sports Classes
- Obstacle Course Racing
- Pickleball
- Soccer
- Softball
Legacy's Performance Training program, led by legendary USA Olympic gold medalist Dan O'Brien, benefits and offers opportunities for athletes of all ages, athletic abilities, and proficiencies to develop their skills, not just for the sports that are currently offered.
This program is designed to help students excel in academics and athletics while allowing a flexible schedule and evenings for family time!

What does the afternoon schedule at Legacy Sports USA / Bell Bank Park include?
There are four components to each athlete’s daily program schedule during the course of the afternoon. Each athlete will receive an unique schedule developed to suit their specific program and training needs.
The four program components will include:
- Performance Development Training
- Refuel & Nutrition
- Professional Sport Specific Skill training session
- Academic Support
Sports include:
Basketball, Baseball, Cheer, Dance, eSports, Futsal, Gymnastics, Jr. Ninja Warrior, Multi-Sports Classes, Beach Volleyball, Indoor Volleyball, Obstacle Course Racing, Pickleball, Soccer, and Softball.

What transportation is offered for Performance Academy students enrolled in Legacy Sports USA sports enrichment programs?
- Drop off is offered at both schools and Bell Bank Park in the morning to get to school
- Pick up is at 4:30pm at Bell Bank Park

Are there costs to attend the Performance Academy?
For students registered to attend the Sports Enrichment Program with Legacy Sports USA at Bell Bank Park there is a Gilbert Public Schools tax credit extracurricular fee of $50 per quarter.
Sports Enrichment Program costs with Legacy Sports USA vary depending on number of days per week athletes are registered for. An athlete registered for 5 days/ week = $480/month. Is Tax Credit available?
Tax Credit is an option for students enrolled in Performance Academy that are also registered to attend the Sports Enrichment Program with Legacy Sports USA at Bell Bank Park.
Parents, family members, and friends can contribute through the Tax Credit program to support your student in their enrichment program.
