All students’ athletes are required to register at RegisterMyAthlete.com and complete all required paperwork before trying out for any sport.
The Junior High athletic participation fee is $100
Physicals must be completed on an official AIA 2023-2024 Physical Form Individual physical forms are available for downloading on the HJHS athletic website

Gilbert Youth Athletics is committed to providing top-tier coaching, utilizing elite facilities, and focusing on the overall development of each student-athlete starting in elementary school and junior high. It is our belief that great athletes must develop fundamental skills at a young age which prepares them for a future of success as they progress through high school and college programs.
Our slogan of Two Steps Ahead comes from the promise to our community that we provide an unparalleled program in terms of coaching, facilities, and competition with an emphasis on character and sportsmanship while having fun. With player development being the focus we are able to identify the playing ability of all athletes and begin a structured approach to facilitate growth. All coaches are Gilbert Public Schools employees, with many currently being on a junior high or high school coaching staff.

Student Athletics Eligibility Requirements

All Junior High & High School students must meet eligibility requirements and complete required forms to participate in athletic programs.
Academic Eligibility Requirements
The student must pass all classes (minimum of 5) at the end of each grading period and not carry any "Unsatisfactory", "Incomplete" and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students must be enrolled in 5 classes. Exceptions are available for a senior online to graduate. Seniors must be enrolled in a minimum of 4 classes. Contact the school's athletic office for clarification.
Attendance BoundariesThe student-athlete must live within the school attendance area. If the student-athlete does not live in the attendance area, they must have an approved open enrollment form on file and meet additional requirements set forth by the Arizona Interscholastic Association. See the school or district athletic director for further information.
Charter Schools
Charter school students are not eligible to participate in athletics for any other school. They are only eligible at the school they attend. If the sport is not offered at their school, they are still not eligible to participate at any other school. This is an Arizona Interscholastic Association Bylaw.
Home Schooled
Home-schooled students must be registered with the State Department of Education. If registered, homeschooled students are eligible in the school district in which they reside. Home-schooled students must meet all other conditions of athletic eligibility including academic requirements.
Age Limit
If a student becomes 19 years of age after September 1st, they are eligible to compete for the remainder of the school year. A student athlete is only eligible for eight semesters from the time of enrollment in the 9th grade. The 7th and 8th semesters must be consecutive.
