Important Testing Updates & Resources

  • State and national testing dates have been canceled or changed due to the rapidly evolving situation around the Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

    AzM2 English Language Arts and Mathematics, as well as AIMS Science requirements, have been suspended for the year.

    Due to the extended school closures, Highland High School-based test administration for its Pre-AP students has been canceled.

  • AP Testing: What Students Should Know and Do

    • AP Exams have been revised to about 45 minutes each and will be taken online, at home.
    • AP Exams are scheduled for May 11-22, with make-up testing on June 1-5
    • This year’s exams focus on content most teachers covered prior to March. So this year’s exams have been designed to honor and
      reward the good work students already did prior to widespread school closures.
    • Colleges across the country are voicing strong support for students to complete the AP experience, take the exam, and receive the
      college credit they deserve. Colleges are especially supportive given the uncertain financial future many families face, and the value of students entering college with credit.
    • Depending on a school’s exam-taking policy, a student can opt-out of the exam if they prefer not to test this year; there will not be a $40 cancellation fee.

    Preparing for AP Exam

    • On AP Central, students can see course-specific exam information, including exam dates and times, descriptions of what they’ll be
      asked to do on their exam, and more; exam features; exam scoring; and exam security.
    • On YouTube, students can access daily, online AP classes and review at
    • Students can log into their MyAP account to get practice tests, activities & resources for the various AP classes they are taking.

  • ACT Information

    ACT: State Testing Information

    Administered on Each High School Campus

    Original Test Date: March 24

    Reschedule Test Date: Canceled

    The Arizona Department of Education is working with vendors to extend the state testing window.  The ADE is also currently engaging with the federal government in the event it is decided that state testing needs to be suspended for the 2019-2020 school year.  Additional guidance will be provided in the coming days and weeks as more information is made available.

    ACT: National Testing Information

    Original Test Date: April 4

    Rescheduled Test Date: June 13 or July 18

    As a safety precaution, ACT has rescheduled its April testing date to June 13.  All students who had registered for the April 4 administration date will receive email communication directly from ACT informing them of the postponement and instructions for free rescheduling to the June 13 or July 18 national testing dates.

    March and May national testing dates have been canceled due to the rapidly evolving situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19).  Students who have already registered for the May 2 administration date or were scheduled for the March 28 make update will receive refunds.  Additional information will be shared with students directly from the College Board.

Assessment and Accountability

  • The Assessment and Accountability Department is primarily responsible for:

    • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of schools and District support functions, including analyses and report of annual AzMerit State Assessments, Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) and Letter Grade results;
    • Reporting student achievement and demographic data to multiple offices;
    • Developing and maintaining the District’s assessments and benchmarks;
    • Ensuring proper administration of state and federally mandated assessments;
    • Collaborating with Teaching and Learning's Departments and schools to ensure continuity and validity in data.​
