The Arizona Department of Education will waive fees for breakfast and lunch for students who qualify for reduced-price school meals, beginning January 2023. This investment will make school meals free for thousands of Arizona students who are eligible. The funding will last through the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

About Nutrition Services

The Gilbert Public Schools Nutrition Services team is dedicated to providing our students with a healthy school breakfast and lunch experience. USDA nutrition standards are strictly followed, however students are consulted in taste tests to determine which flavors and brands of compliant foods that they like the best. The menu is constantly evolving to meet student nutrition needs and preferences.

The school nutrition team employs a Registered Dietitian and certified School Nutrition Specialists who follow county health code regulations, USDA meal patterns, and all district safety protocols. Students with food allergies or certain health conditions that require a special food plan, may fill out the Dietary Needs form so that they will be offered alternate foods that are safe for them to consume.

All meals are provided in the "Offer versus Serve" model which allows students to choose their meal components which reduces food waste. Each school day students are offered whole grains, lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, 100% fruit juice, and milk options.
