Welcome to Harris Elementary School!

The entire staff at Harris welcomes you and we look forward to partnering with you to provide the best education for your children. At Harris, we provide high-quality programs that focus on student growth and academic achievement. At the same time, our dedicated teaching staff does “Whatever it Takes” to ensure students' overall success. Truly, we are most proud of our fabulous students who devote their time, effort, and attention to acquiring new knowledge and skills.

Parents and guardians play a huge part in the overall success at Harris Elementary. We understand parental involvement increases overall student success and enriches the school community as well as the overall environment. Many parents volunteer in classrooms regularly and provide valued one-to-one attention to students; thus improving student opportunities to produce quality work and achieve learning goals. Parents enrich the educational experiences of our students through their participation and involvement at school.

Our daily work together includes creating a safe and supportive environment in which all learners can pursue academic and social learning experiences, employ their talents and strengths, and reach to fulfill their unique potentials. We seek to spark a love of learning so that all of our young learners begin to realize that they can employ their education to nourish their curiosity, accomplish their goals, solve problems, and create new goals throughout their lives. We seek to develop students confidence and competence in their abilities to make valuable contributions as citizens in the school community.

We invite you to visit our school and see all students learning! Please contact our school office or your child’s teacher if you are interested in visiting our campus.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing information about the excellent educational programs at Harris Elementary School!

Jenn Laserna

I am excited to be a Hawk this year and be part of this fantastic community here at Harris. I look forward to getting to know every one of you. This is my twentieth year in education and my eighth year with Gilbert Public Schools.  I started my teaching career in Maryland, as a special educator, working with children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Then became a classroom teacher a few years later, teaching first grade, third grade, and fourth grade. For the last four years, I was a math specialist, working with students from kindergarten through sixth grade with math.

As an educator, I believe that we must work together to support the emotional, social, and academic well-being of each child. Parental and community involvement is key when it comes to engaging our students in the learning process and supporting them in becoming productive, caring citizens. As part of the Harris team, I will work alongside Mr. Roth and this staff to always do what is best for students.
