Dear Boulder Creek Community,

Welcome to Bulldog Country! Boulder Creek Elementary is a 2011 A+ School of Excellence with an outstanding tradition of academic and extracurricular opportunities. Our teachers prepare students for the 21st century using the rigorous Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards.  Boulder Creek also has the only Elementary AVID program in the district.  AVID stands for advancement via individual determination.  AVID is a program that focuses on organization, note-taking, study skills, close reading, and good writing skills.  Students in all grades will either have an AVID binder or AVID folder to assist with their organizational skills.  We are proud to be in our third year of AVID implementation!

Our programs include a robust music program that offers general music to grades kindergarten through fourth grade while providing instrumental music opportunities in grades five and six. Extracurricular opportunities in music offered include a primary and intermediate chorus, a hand chime choir, and the only Recorder team in the district. A highly qualified art specialist offers art instruction in kindergarten through sixth grade. Art is also selected throughout the year to be shown at the annual district art show at Norwood Furniture as well as being highlighted at the Gilbert Schools District Office. Physical education is taught using the Pangrazzi method of instruction focusing on movement and rhythm.

We also have 1:1 Chrome books in first through sixth grade. We also departmentalize at fourth through sixth grade so students have a math teacher, a science/social studies teacher, and an English/Language Arts teacher. iPads are also used by students for projects.  Kindergarten classrooms also use Kindle Fires to reinforce skills in reading and writing.

Boulder Creek also has an outstanding library with an enormous collection of fiction and nonfiction titles. Students receive instruction from a certified librarian weekly with additional open check out times available.

Boulder Creek also has additional opportunities for students to expand their education outside our walls. Sixth-grade students attend science camp at Camp Tontozona in Payson in the spring. The sixth graders do a wide variety of outdoor science activities including a study of erosion, astronomy, and STEAM lessons with graduate students from ASU. Fifth-grade students have the opportunity to join the oceanography club and go to San Diego for a weekend to go whale watching. Each grade level also takes additional field trips to supplement their curriculum.

I hope this gives you a sense of the wonderful place the Boulder Creek is. It is a place where children learn and grow every single day! The staff and I take pride in all the students’ accomplishments and proudly recognize them monthly at our Pride Day Assemblies. Stop by our fantastic campus anytime to see all of our amazing students and staff.
