School Bell Schedule Change for 2019–2020
Thank you to all who participated in researching, proposing, and commenting on the changes to next year’s school bell schedule.
Having reviewed input from school and district staff, recommendations from an external consultant, and feedback from parents and staff, the Governing Board approved a new school bell schedule for the 2019/2020 school year.
The approval followed an extensive process that included internal administrative review, recommendations from both the GPS transportation department and external consultants, parental and staff feedback, and several discussions by the Governing Board. Parents and staff were encouraged to provide feedback on two potential options. Based on parental response, and specifically requests for an earlier junior high release, an additional schedule option was developed and presented to the Governing Board at a Work Study held April 2, 2019.
The Governing Board approved the following bell schedules:

Please note, those families whose students use GPS transportation services will receive additional updates and key information in future communications. We will also share regular updates on the District website - https://gilbertschools.net.
We believe these schedules balance the feedback received with the resource constraints the District faces. We are encouraged this solution will, in the future, allow us to direct additional funds to the classroom while improving transportation safety and reliability. We are grateful for the trust that our community places in Gilbert Public Schools as we strive to serve our community’s families and students.
Thank you for your continued support of Gilbert Public Schools.
