Governing Board Brief - August 25, 2020

The Governing Board met for a scheduled board business meeting, Tuesday, August 25, 2020.  The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm.

The meeting began with the Superintendent’s Report.  Dr. Shane McCord, Superintendent, highlighted the following in his report. 

  • Health benchmark data update - Last published August 20, to reflect August 2.
  • Teacher survey data - 92.2% response rate; 92% state they will return to campus; 8% state they will stay at or go to GPS Global Academy.  

Requests to speak to the Governing Board followed.  There were 7 requests to speak.

A report of ‘School Improvement Bonds, projects of 2015 and 2019, Series 2020 Results’ followed.  Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Ms. Bonnie J. Betz introduced Mr. William Davis and Ms. Megan Burke from Piper Sandler to present.

Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Ms. Bonnie J. Betz then presented the ‘Monthly Budget Report’, and was available to answer questions from the Governing Board.

The Consent Agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote:

6.02 Approval of Minutes for Regular Board Meeting on July 28, 2020 and Brief Board Business Meeting on August 11. 2020

6.03 Certified Personnel

6.04 Support Staff Personnel

6.05 Substitute Personnel

6.06 Amendment to Cell Tower Lease at Desert Ridge High School

6.07 Acceptance of Donations

6.08 Ratification of Prior Month Financial Vouchers

The following Action Items were approved with a 5-0 vote: 

7.01 Arizona School Risk Retention Trust Covid-19 Endorsement

7.02 Discussion and possible action regarding the Suspension of Board Policy BGB-Policy Adoption related to a First and Second Reading of New Board Policy ACA, ACA-R (Regulation) - Sexual Harassment and Policy ACAA, ACAA-R (Regulation) - Title IX Sexual Harassment

7.03 Discussion and possible action to Revise Policy ACA and ACA- R (Regulation) - Sexual Harassment

7.04 Discussion and possible action to Revise Policy ACAA and ACAA-R (Regulation) - Title IX Sexual Harassment
