Governing Board Brief - October 12, 2021

The Governing Board met for a ‘Work-Study and Brief Business Meeting’ on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm and began with Executive Session for discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Governing Board’s attorney(s) and to consider the Governing Board’s position and instruct its attorney(s) regarding accepting among bids procured by the District for enhancements to the backstop and protective netting at the baseball field at Desert Ridge High School and entering into an agreement with Blandford Homes for Blandford Homes to share the expense with the District to pay one half of the amount of a bid if the bid is accepted by the Board for enhancements to the backstop and protective netting at the baseball field at Desert Ridge High School.

The ‘Work Study’ was then called to order at 6:00 pm.

Executive Director of Technology, Mr. Jon Castelhano, presented on ‘Robotics in the Classroom’.

This presentation was followed by the FY 2021 Annual Financial Report and School Level Reporting Form, presented by Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Ms. Bonnie J. Betz, and Director of Finance, Ms. Jackie Mattinen.

The ‘Work Study’ was adjourned at 7:00 pm.

The ‘Brief Board Business Meeting’ was then called to order.

The following Consent Agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote:

7.02 Certified, Classified, and Substitute Personnel

7.03 Carpet Upgrade in Building B of District Office Complex

7.04 Purchase of Multi-Function School Activity Buses

7.05 Ornamental Iron Perimeter Fencing at Gilbert High School

7.06 Parent Support Organizations FY 2022

7.07 Approval of Overnight or Out of State Travel

7.08 Staff Travel

The following Action Agenda item was approved with 5-0 vote:

8.01 FY 2021 Annual Financial Report and School Level Reporting Form

The following Action Agenda items were ‘tabled’ with a 5-0 vote:

8.02 Discussion and possible Action relating to entering into an agreement with Blandford Homes for Blandford Homes to share the expense with the District to pay one half of the amount of a bid procured by the District and approved by the Board for enhancements to the backstop and protective netting at the baseball field at Desert Ridge High School.

8.03 Discussion and possible Action relating to accepting among bids procured by the District for enhancements to the backstop and protective netting at the Desert Ridge High School varsity baseball field.

For the following Action Agenda item, it was approved with a 5-0 vote, that Board Member Jill Humpherys will attend as the board delegate to the ASBA County Meeting:

8.04 Consideration and possible action to appoint Governing Board Member _____ to represent Gilbert Public Schools as the board delegate to the Arizona School Boards Association County Meeting on October 18, 2021.
