Principal News 3/25.20
I sincerly hope that this communication finds all of our families healthy during these unprecedented times. As you are aware, Governor Doug Ducey has announced school closures through at least April 10. As a result, over the last few weeks the Harris staff and I have been working hard on building an online enrichment learning environment for all of our students. Today, I am excited to say that we are almost ready to roll out this new remote experience to all of our students.
On March 30, all grade level classroom teachers will have Google Classroom that they will use to provide enrichment opportunities to their students. Students will have the opportunity to participate in online virtual field trips, Time for Kids, Scholastic News, Math Games, and many other fun activities. Harris teachers will soon be reaching out to their families directly via email or their usual form of communication to let you know just how students can participate in this new virtual environment. If students do not have technoogy at home, the District or I will soon be informing you on how and when to pick up a Chromebook from Harris Elementary for home use. In the event, the internet is not available for students, then the school will have paper copies of the enricments materials for the students. Look for more details to come regarding distribution of technology or paper resources soon.
I know that this is a very difficult time for all of us right now but I promise we will continue to provide as much support as possible to our students and families during this time. However, I do need your assistance in making sure that you have updated all your family information on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, as communication from school and District will come through this method. Also, check your SPAM/JUNK folder to make sure that emails from Infinite Campus (IC) are not in there. Last, if you would communicate your specific needs to the classroom teacher, such as spanish only, no techology, no internet, they will ensure that we address your needs in a timely manner.
I miss your kiddos and seeing everyone at parent drop off. This time will pass and we will all be better for experiencing it. Tell your students that their Harris Family says, "Hello!"
As always, "Whatever it Takes!"
