The Governing Board met for a scheduled Governing Board Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.  The meeting began with an Executive Session at 5:30 pm to discuss the potential appointment of Jodi Smith as the Principal of Greenfield Junior High School. 

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.

 

The meeting began with Superintendent’s Recognitions which included:

• Highland High Football 6A State Champions
• Mesquite High Basketball 4A State Champions
• Mesquite High Speech and Debate - Student Hunter Fenn finished first in Big Question Debate (qualifying him for nationals) first in Prose and runner up in Impromptu
• Gilbert High Speech and Debate - State champion junior Gabriel Neff, who won first in Original Spoken Word Poetry
• Judy Engels, Highland Park Elementary - School of Social Work 2022 Professional Achievement Award

 

The Superintendent’s Report followed, highlighting:

• State standardized testing is this month. Thank you to all of our students, teachers, support staff, principals, and administrators for all of their work on this.  Students, please get lots of rest, eat well and we know you will give it your all.
• This Thursday is our Employee of the Year event, honoring our Support Staff, Administrators, and Teachers.  The event begins at 5 pm and will be held at the Doubletree hotel.  Thank you to the Gilbert Education Foundation and all our generous local business leaders who support this event.
• April 4- 6 will be the Elementary Art Show - Join us at Norwoods between 5:30 - 8:30 pm to view artwork created by our elementary students.  Thank you to all of our art teachers for their hard work to make this event happen and in the classroom every day.
• The next GEF Business Breakfast will be on April Monday 11th at 7 am.
