We provide an opportunity for all students to participate in an innovative mathematics curriculum that fosters an understanding of mathematics, develops thinking skills for practical applications, and while nurturing an interest in the field of mathematics, prepares students for a rapidly changing technological society.

Junior High Math

GPS Junior High Schools use the adopted iReady Classroom Mathematics by Curriculum Associates for Grades K-8. i-Ready Classroom Mathematics is designed to support all students in becoming critical thinkers, persistent problem solvers, and lifelong learners. Students learn key concepts over multiple days to foster deeper understanding by engaging in mathematical discourse and problem-solving. While students share math thinking with their classmates, they use a variety of strategies to increase their math flexibility to solve problems. This allows students to solidify their learning, and make connections to the math they see in everyday life.

High School Math

Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II

GPS high schools use the adopted resource Into AGA by Houghton, Mifflin & Harcourt for Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Into AGA is designed with students at the center of the learning experience, resulting in fearless problem solvers who take charge of their learning. Students develop strong conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and reasoning skills while gaining a sense of personal accomplishment through productive perseverance. Gilbert Public Schools offers these courses on level and in an Honors format. These classes are based on standards adopted by the Arizona Department of Education.

Upper-level Courses

GPS high schools use the resources adopted by the district for upper level mathematics courses. Students have the opportunity to earn dual credit for these courses. We additionally offer four advanced placement courses: AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics. All upper-level courses are based on standards adopted by the Arizona Department of Education and required by the College Board.
