The Performing Arts program seeks to encourage the broadest possible range of creative options for its students.

We have a solid tradition of high-quality education and strive for excellence in every endeavor. We offer a variety of ensembles that study classical repertoire, world music, jazz, and contemporary music.

The Drama Department offers a range of classes that study classical theatre, contemporary styles, and technical aspects of production.

Graduation Requirements: GPS recommends 2 CTE or Fine Arts credits for meeting the requirements for public universities in Arizona. Fine arts include: music, art, theatre, and dance, OR one full year credit of CTE from the same program area.

Diploma Seals

Seal of Arts Proficiency (opens in new window/tab)

This program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated high levels of proficiency in the Arizona Arts Education Standards through personal expression and creative experiences in arts education programs at the time of graduation. Requirements include specific coursework, extracurriculars, and a capstone project.

Coyote Strings (CVHS Only)

Grade: 9,10,11,12
Semester: 1 (2nd)
Credit: 0.5
Prerequisite: Audition, application and approval, large group ensemble experience
Fee: Additional program costs may be incurred for other activities related to the program, not to exceed $25.00. Every three or four years, other expenses may be incurred for travel to significant performances.
