This course will explore a detailed studies approach to works written in English in which students examine a variety of genres and themes. Skills focus on close reading techniques, language effects, written literary analysis and oral commentary. Literacy pieces include British and American classics as well as works written by modern authors from a variety of backgrounds. Through a variety of literary genres, students will examine international works for themes, cultural influences, and the human experience. Literary analysis, social criticism and comparative analysis will also be emphasized. This course is designed to prepare students to successfully complete the IB Exam.
