This course will provide the systematic and scientific study of behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals. Course content includes: history and approaches; research methods; biological basis for behavior; sensation and perception; the state of consciousness; learning; cognition; motivation and emotion; developmental psychology; personality; testing and individual differences; abnormal behavior and its treatment; and social psychology. Because inquiry is the cornerstone in the study of history and the social sciences, students will develop and utilize skills in the same context as historians and social scientists. These skills will include analyzing primary and secondary sources, reasoning and contextualization, causation, continuity and change over time. This course is designed to prepare students to successfully complete the Advanced Placement Exam in May. May be taken for dual credit. Elective credit will be issued for this course
