This course will provide an overview of American History from the pre-Columbian period to the present. Course content includes: American national identity; migration and settlement; politics and power; work, exchange, and technology; America in the world; geography and the environment; and culture and society. Because inquiry is the cornerstone in the study of history and the social sciences, students will develop and utilize skills in the same context as historians and social scientists. These skills will include analyzing primary and secondary sources, reasoning and contextualization, causation, continuity and change over time. This course is designed to prepare students to successfully complete the Advanced Placement Exam in May.
