This course deepens students’ understanding of historical, civic, geographic, and economic concepts through a concept-based approach aligned with the Arizona 8th Grade Social Studies Standards and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme framework. Students engage in rigorous inquiry, independent research, and critical analysis of complex sources and global issues. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary learning, student-led inquiry, and the application of knowledge to real-world contexts. The course culminates in a capstone project that showcases students’ ability to synthesize their learning, demonstrate civic engagement, and reflect on their growth as global thinkers.
