This course will view American History through popular music and introduce students to a different approach used to understand modern American History. This course will include a historical overview of rock ā€˜n’ roll and popular music based on listening and analysis of selected musical examples representing the stylistic evolution from the 1930s to the present. The social roles and implications of popular American music will be studied.
