This course provides an opportunity for students to read Latin in the original text. Students study the following Latin literature genres: mythology, love poetry, history, oratory, theater, and medieval works. They read the works in Latin, analyzing the literature critically and analytically. Different figures of speech and poetic devices are analyzed as they apply to the work. The historical and mythological background under which the works were written is pursued.
