This honors course will introduce students to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Students will begin to build proficiency in all three modes of communication and five communication strands according to the Arizona World and Native Languages Standards and ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) anticipated outcomes: Interpersonal Communication, Interpretive Reading & Listening, and Presentational Writing & Speaking. The concepts are taught through a variety of cultural themes, authentic resources, and instructional techniques. Students will be expected to actively use their language skills each day to build proficiency. This course is not appropriate for native Spanish speakers.
