This advanced course will continue to develop students’ skills in Spanish in all three modes of communication and five communication strands according to the Arizona World and Native Languages Standards and ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) anticipated outcomes: Interpersonal Communication, Interpretive Reading & Listening, and Presentational Writing & Speaking. This course prepares students to successfully participate in college level Spanish courses. Critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills will be further developed as students build toward fluent Spanish acquisition. Students can engage in complex thinking, reading, writing and listening tasks in Spanish and develop a more sophisticated understanding of Spanish language cultures and history. Spanish is used almost exclusively in the course by both the teacher and students.
