This course will develop Japanese interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational skills, and prepare students for the IB Japanese program through the study of five IB interdisciplinary themes. Students will explore components of the IB Learner Profile, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Community, Action and Service (CAS). Learning experiences will emphasize authentic communication and real-world application of the language. Students will read, write, listen, and speak in Japanese using a variety of personal and cultural contexts. Through the study of the products, practices, and perspectives of Japanese-speaking cultures, students will develop intercultural understanding and international-mindedness. The letter grade received in this course will be documented on the high school transcript and will be factored into the student’s high school GPA.
