This course will continue to develop Japanese interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational skills, and further prepare students for the IB Japanese program through the study of five IB interdisciplinary themes. Students will deepen their understanding of the IB Learner Profile, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Community, Action and Service (CAS). Learning experiences will focus on authentic communication, emphasizing fluency and confidence in speaking and writing. Students will engage with a range of personal, cultural, and informational texts in Japanese. Through continued study of the products, practices, and perspectives of Japanese-speaking cultures, students will expand their intercultural understanding and strengthen their international-mindedness. The letter grade received in this course will be documented on the high school transcript and will be factored into the student’s high school GPA.
