Automotive Technologies CTE Program of Study

The Automotive Technologies program is designed to prepare individuals for jobs as technicians in the automotive field. The program is comprised of a core curriculum and Automotive Technologies I and II. The occupational standards for each are aligned with the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards. The program is designed and delivered as a coherent sequence of experiences using technical instruction, academic foundations, experiential learning, supervised occupational experience, and leadership and personal development through the Career and Technical Student Organization, SkillsUSA.

What are some skills that you’ve gained in Automotive Technologies?

"I have been able to make significant progress on my motor vehicle. As issues arise, I can rectify them and keep my vehicle running for a longer amount of time. I am also able to assist people around me that are close by with their vehicles."

Do you have a favorite memory, lesson, or class project from this CTE course?

"Yes, we did steering and suspension as a unit. Once we completed the unit, I rebuilt the steering and suspension on my personal car. It was a very big project but once completed, my classmates and I were very proud."

Would you recommend Automotive Technologies to your peers? 

"Yes. The skills I have learned will help me for my lifetime. Even if people aren't super involved and interested, they can certainly obtain a substantial amount of skills even at a basic level."
