Engineering Sciences - CTE Program of Study

The Engineering Sciences program is designed to develop a student’s understanding of engineering problem-solving and design practices. The program will prepare students to apply fundamental scientific and mathematical laws and principles relevant to engineering and technology. Students will learn to use systems of measurement, apply engineering technologies and tools as well as learn about the different disciplines and opportunities within the field of engineering. The program is designed and delivered as a coherent sequence of experiences using technical instruction, academic foundations, experiential learning, supervised occupational experience, and leadership and personal development through the Career and Technical Student Organization, SkillsUSA.

Engineering Sciences Courses:

  • SC200 Introduction to Engineering and Design
  • SC201 Principles of Engineering
  • SC202 Digital Electronics
  • SC204 Aerospace Engineering
  • SC203 Engineering Design and Development/CIM
  • CT330 Engineering Internship

Student Testimonials

Jonah Steck - Desert Ridge High School

How has CTE positively impacted your high school experience?

"CTE has offered a break from regular courses to focus on a specific interest of mine and learn the skills to pursue those interests. Because it's more specialized, we had access to more unique resources and these particular courses helped me learn about the reality of becoming an engineer."

What are some skills that you’ve gained from Engineering?

"These courses have offered a lot of skills, such as engineering notebook notation, inventor auto CAD, computer programming basics, and the engineering process of developing a solution to a real-world problem. We also had some work with digital electronics and robotics."
