Senior Year / 12th Grade

Meet with your high school counselor at the start of the fall semester to make sure you are on track for graduation and have all the necessary coursework required for the college, university, or trade school program you plan to pursue

 
  1. Review your transcript, making necessary class adjustments to ensure you are on track for graduation.
  2. Utilize resources to help you stay on track in your classes (tutoring, Khan Academy, etc.)
    • Create an Ask Benji account 
    • Text “Hi Benji” to 602-786-8171
  3. Complete the applications for AZ universities as early as July 1. 
  4. Complete the application for one or more community colleges.
  5. Send your current transcript to the institutions you have submitted applications to. You can utilize Parchment to request.  
  6. Complete the Common Application if your prospective school(s) participate in the Common Application.
    • Review the student resources to enhance your application, essays, and letters of recommendation.
  7. If needed, retake the SAT and ACT.
  8. Finalize your college documents.
    • Personal statement
    • Secure letters of recommendation (teachers, counselor, coaches, etc.)
    • Academic resume/activity list
  9. Apply early! Most early decision/action deadlines are in November (UC and Cal State options)
  10. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – be sure that you and a parent have created an FSA ID prior to accessing the FAFSA form.
  11. Monitor your college/university portals regularly for admission, scholarship, and to-do task updates (i.e. MyASU, MyMaricopa, MyPima, LOUIE, UAccess, etc.)
  12. Consistently research scholarship opportunities to help pay for education or training after high school.

Looking for ways to get involved? Keep a lookout for your school’s club fair!

It is always a good time to get involved on your high school campus. There are clubs for everyone ranging from coloring clubs, K-pop, volunteer/service, mentoring, equality and many more. Also, all CTE programs have student organizations, as do all of the performing/visual arts and sports teams.

Arizona College Consortium (AZ-CC) is a membership of over 30 post-secondary institutions. The organization’s mission is to provide quality education pathways to meet the needs of future scholars. This college fair will allow students and families to:

  • Uncover new college options through a robust search tool
  • Experience virtual campus tours 
  • Watch videos and download materials helpful for the decision process
  • Schedule meetings and interviews with admissions representatives
